5 Month Wrap up

Today you are 5 months old.

You roll occasionally from back to front but you still get hung up on that darn arm!

You are a pro at rolling from front to back, although I'm not sure if that's due to your head size and gravity :-)

Your favorite baby food is avocado. That's my girl! It's your big sisters favorite food and mommy's favorite food too!

You've been sleeping through the night consistently now and Mommy is so so happy!

You are wearing 6-9 month clothes because you are so long!

Mommy is still breast feeding you with a nightly formula/breast milk combo bottle because it helps with your reflux. This is a huge accomplishment for Mommy!

You giggle at your big sister all the time and you always give a great big smile to everyone that makes eye contact with you.

You are yanking at your mouth non-stop so I have a feeling teeth are coming in.

You enjoy grabbing toys, jumping (not bouncing) in your jumper, you love to dance, touching your toes and screeching, I mean talking.

You are one in a million kid, we love you so much.

4 Months

C-you are growing every day, so fast. It feels like we just brought you home from the hospital. You are doing so much better, so so much better. You are such a bright light and we are so happy to have you as a part of our family.

You had 3 shots today and screamed so loud, it broke my heart.

You are cutting your first tooth!

You weigh 15lbs 1oz

You are now 30 inches long

You are now wearing 6-9 month clothing because you are so long!

You are a drooly drooooooly baby!

You've just discovered your toes

You love your oball because it's easy to grab with your hands

You love to stick your tongue out. Daddy and I joke that you are "tasting the world"

You give full belly laughs when your big sister does something silly

And today you just figured out how to "chatter"

Today...

Today you gave me your first real laugh. You scared yourself half to death when you did it.

Today you spit up on 4 outfits, so we had a mini fashion show.

Today you actually enjoyed tummy time instead of the usual cries.

It's been upped

CC hasn't made things easy. Between the reflux, the colic, the lack of sleep, I'm sprouting dozens of gray hairs. Last night was a particularly bad night. We've been attempting the pack and play since the infamous rock and play rollover, but the pack and play can only have a slight incline which does not help her reflux at all. She was up ever 45 minutes to an hour and would not settle back down to sleep with each wake up. Needless to say we are both very very tired today.

CC spent all day screaming, crying(I also spent the day crying), fighting sleep, and spitting up everywhere. I'm not talking small amounts, but big huge amounts amidst the coughing/gag fits. I finally broke down and sent her pediatrician an email describing the last few days and asking for help. She is upping her Zantac prescription and sending CC's info on to a pediatric gastro for advice for treatment. I have a feeling we will end up seeing the gastro anyway. Here's to baby smiles, baby health, and nights full of sleep!

Sleep is for the weak

I believe that my baby is a vampire. She hates to sleep. It's a really good thing she is so cute, but I'm living off coffee these days and I am dying for a full nights rest. C plays a mean trick of sleeping 5 hours straight at night which is absolutely amazing, but then goes right back to up every hour or 2.

Sunday morning she scared the living daylights out of both of us. She will only sleep swaddled and in her rock and play because of her reflux and Sunday morning at 2am I woke up to a horrible scream. I got up, looked down into the rock and play, and C had managed to roll, that's right I said roll, directly on to her face. She was screaming face down in the rock and play. My heart stopped. Thank God she screamed. We spent the rest of the night too afraid to sleep so we cuddled in bed together comfort nursing until Addy woke up. Now we are trying to figure out where C is going to sleep. I hate swaddling her because she needs to use her hands, but if they are out she is constantly waking herself up with a smack to the face. In time I'm hoping this gets better, but I would prefer sooner rather than later :-)

Kindergarten Jitters

Last night Trevor and I Registered Addy for Kindergarten. Oh boy. My little baby has really and truly turned into a big girl. She is growing up so fast, riding 2 wheelers over dirt bike jumps, helping with her little sister, digging makeup, and just growing! This will be a brand new adventure for her and I really hope she embraces it with open arms. We are so proud of you Addy, you are growing into such a fabulous girl. Soup for the Soul

I love to cook, like semi obsessed. Trevor loves it because he's always getting home cooked meals as opposed to eating out. Funny enough, when we started dating he survived off easy Mac and Costco dinner rolls. Meal of champions right there.

Addy has recently gotten really into cooking. She follows me around the kitchen watching every move I make and helping where she can (I still won't let her crack eggs!). She has been so crazy about cooking that she will watch cooking shows all day if I let her. Her favorite show is The Chew and yes she makes me record it. I think she might be slightly obsessed with Michael Simon.

Anyway, tonight I made my sick side kick one of our favorite soups, Tortellini Soup.

1/2 yellow onion chopped
3 large carrots, chopped
3 sticks of celery chopped
(I legit threw all of these together in a food processor and finely diced them)
2 cloves diced garlic
2 cans (14.5 oz each) of diced tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
3 small zucchini sliced
6oz bag of fresh baby spinach
5 cups of water mixed with 2 bouillon cubes
1 container of refridgerated cheese tortellini (I use the large 24oz from Costco)
Dash of salt and pepper
Splash of tapatio(hot sauce, which is actually pretty mild)
Olive oil
Grated Parmesan

In a large pot drizzle olive oil in bottom and add the finely diced onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Let simmer over medium high heat until soft(approx5 min).
Add sliced zucchini, season with salt and pepper and let simmer another 3 min.
Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and splash of tapatio and bring to a boil stirring often.
Add the broth slowly and bring to a boil again.
Add the spinach and let cook for 2 min before adding the tortellini.
Simmer the tortellini in the soup between 7-9 minutes until warmed through.

Serve in bowls topped with parmesean cheese.

Hiatus

We've been gone, out of the loop, out of time, busy...busy....busy. I need to catch up, we need to catch up, we need to update on our life!

Buckle up and hold tight because Here. We. Go.

Addy is now 5. FIVE!!! Who is this child and what did she do with my little girl?? We are registering her for Kindergarten tomorrow. She. Is. Huge.

We celebrated her birthday on Saturday and had a party on Sunday complete with a princess castle bounce house. She is now wearing 6T clothes and size extra huge shoes. We need to take her clothes shopping because the 5T gear she seemed to skip looks hilarious on her. Poor kid. She writes her name, writes the alphabet, loves to cook with me, and has become a fabulous big sister to a little sister. Yes, Trevor has another girl in the house. How did that happen?

Trevor is keeping busy with the girls, the 4runner(STILL!!!), kind of work, and fixing everyone else's vehicles, some of which are residing in our backyard. We are the epitome of "country bumpkins". Trevor just realized yesterday that he really is in for it when the girls are of puberty age. He about keeled over at the thought of PMS house, why it took him so long, I haven't a clue.

I'm sitting here writing this, trying to catch up on our lives while breast feeding the newest little Mosher girl. Collette was born the day before our 8 year wedding anniversary and is now a sweet little 8 week old. She's eating like a champ and growing like a weed. She weighed 7 lbs 10 oz at birth and came out wailing. Thankfully, her labor was under 12 hours unlike her sister's at over 48. She's beautiful with big blue eyes and a TON of dark brown hair, she also looks suspiciously like my sister. Hmmmm.

Speaking of my sister, Jessie is now living in Kansas City teaching Spanish with Teach for America. She has a goofy dog named Walter that apparently rivals Diesel in personality according to my Dad. Dad went back to visit Jess not too long ago and he said Walter is a goof.

I am trying to maintain my sanity as a new second time mom, while getting used to breast feeding, taking care of a sassy 5 year old, being a caring wife, daughter, and sister. I'm also addicted to pinterest. Yes, pinterest. And my crock pot. My crock pot and pinterest are a dangerous combination for my butt and thighs.

Alright, I'm signing out for now. I'll try to pop in a little later, but for now my 5 year old needs a snack and my 8 week old is screaming at her BFF the fan which has turned off.

Georgia Bound

We were fortunate enough to visit our dear friend's in Georgia thanks in part to Dad (thanks Daddy!) for Brandon's wedding. Brandon was Trevor's best man at our wedding and we were so excited to watch him walk down the aisle. Addy was a champ on the plane and we got to Canton, Georgia safe and sound. We tried to keep her on California time, which made for some late nights Georgia time, but she was so great the whole trip. She really took to Brandon's mom, so much so that she was calling her Grandma and Diane loved it!

Our little "talker"

Adalyn is at that fun age when she's starting to put more sentences together and sing fun songs. I love it. I can't believe how much she is talking and we all can understand almost all of it. We have full conversations about dinner, playtime, bath time, etc. We have a country music station on the radio out here called 95.3 KRTY and they have a nice little ditty leading into the next set of songs and she knows all the words to it and sings along.

She's constantly telling Daddy to be careful and ask what he's doing, she also really likes to hand him tools when he is working on a vehicle. She knows the difference between a wrench and a screw driver and makes sure to hand him the proper tool. We are trying to cut down on the whines because they seem to be coming out more often then not.

Addy also put herself in timeout a few weeks ago after she hit our dog Diesel. She looked at me and said, "uh oh Mommy, Addy go timeout. I not nice to Diesel." She then crawled up on the time out chair and sat there until I came over to her and asked her why she put herself there. She said, "I sorry Mama, hitting is bad. I not be nice to Diesel so I timeout." It was too cute.

She's also really into Baby Sign. We got some videos from our good friends and she begs for one every morning while we are getting ready. She knows most of the signs, but the one's that she loves the most are, Grandpa, peach, pear, drink, eat, airplane, dog, I'm sorry, Thank you, and Be nice. We are so proud of her and all that she is learning.

Addy recently learned how to ride a bike. Our neighbor gave us their hand-me down bike and it took all of 20 minutes for Addy to be zooming around using the pedals. Next thing we know she will be ready for skiing. Time flies...

My Knees are a' Shakin'

As most people are "freaking out" over the events of the last 3 days, I am actually relieved! Since Wednesday, we have a series of small earthquakes centered on a Fault Line just outside Milpitas. We had a fair jolt on Wednesday evening, and then yesterday morning we had a 4.2 "shaker". I didn't feel either of those, however I raised my voice at Adalyn for throwing her stack of puzzles onto the floor. 15 minutes later I found out that we had had an earthquake and then I felt so bad! Since yesterday we have had 21 minor quakes under or around the 2.0 mark. This morning I missed yet another quake which came in at a 3.8. A lot of people I know are getting worried, but I look at it as the fault lines relieving the pressure that has built up. We will see how many more we get in the next few days...Take THAT UTAH Family :-)

Long time coming...

Okay, so I know I have been completely and utterly slacking on posting up anything new for the last few months. Wait, lets be realistic...it's been over half a year since I posted any update what so ever. I'm sorry, please don't ignore me or my posts :-( I will post up more and I WILL post up pictures when we fix our computers that have our pictures on them!

First of all, I hope this post finds you all well and in good spirits.

Secondly, Happy Holidays!

Here is a brief update on our lives since my last post, and seriously, there is no easy or nice way to say it so here it goes...

Life has been completely full of downs for us lately. The economy, the real estate market, Job-loss, and above all else a family torn apart. My parents, who have been married for 26 years have decided to divorce. It's been a horrendous experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone at any age. People keep telling me that I am lucky that it didn't happen when I was a kid, however I feel that it is just as hard if not harder to have it happen at my age. We have built family traditions that have been ripped from us and we are old enough to understand what happened and either agree or disagree with it. When you are younger and this happens, a lot gets hidden from you as far as reasons. You get the "Mommy and Daddy still love you" talk, where as now we are stuck right dab in the middle of it.

Needless to say, Trevor and I made the executive decision to move in with Dad to help him in anyway that we could, which we have been ridiculed for. I am so thankful to have the supportive husband that I do and the marvelous daughter that I do. They have been my rock and strength during this difficult time. I am also very thankful for the friends that have stood by us and let us cry on their shoulders.

I told you this wouldn't be easy to say. I also found myself on the job hunt when the Preschool I worked for didn't have room for me anymore and went through a round of lay offs. Awesome. I was able to find a woman who was looking for a stay at home mom (which I qualify as now!) to watch her son. I nailed the job, and I now look forward to every day I have with my baby girl.

Speaking of Adalyn, she has grown so, so much in these last months. At 16 months she picked up our neighbors Razor scooter, asked for her helmet and took off! I am so not kidding! When I get the video off the other computer I will post it. Addy is now 22 months old and speaking full sentences. Her favorite phrase is, "What you doing?" or "I hold yooooooou!" She loves to "scoot, scoot" and she recently went on her first 4wheeling adventure which she LOVED! We strapped her in her friend Shelby's car seat in the back of Geoff's Jeep. We put her pink helmet on and took off. She laughed, screamed, and was so happy the whole time! She kept screaming at Jamison to go "faster".

Santa was very good to Addy this year as she got a Train table that she will not stop playing with and a new Razor scooter since we had an old hand me down. She is in heaven. Right before Christmas we heard her on the baby monitor early one morning going..."Santa, Ho Ho". Too cute. She also calls Frosty, "snowman man man man". Our hearts are completely wrapped up in this little girl and we wouldn't have it any other way. We are looking forward to the future as a little family and hopefully it will be bright and full of hope.

Addy's 1!!!!!!

I can not believe our beautiful baby is 1! Where has the year gone? Our baby is such a wonderful, loving, and sweet little girl and we love every second with her. We celebrated her birthday at our home with amazing family and friends. Thank you to everyone that came to share our babies special day! Here are some pictures ;-)

February Updates (with pictures!)

We went camping for my birthday at Mt. Madonna just outside Gilroy. We had such a great time and Adalyn did so well! Our friend's George and Amanda came along and we braved the rain and fog together. We brought along a camper and Adalyn hung out in there with the screen shut while we cooked, hung out by the fire, and kissed banana slugs ;-) She wasn't really able to crawl in the camper because it's small so she has officially given up crawling and has been walking ever since! We also built an animal cage around some foam pads we brought along with us. She loved being out and exploring her surroundings. We also have some cute pictures that are not from camping ;-)

I'm Sorry :-(

We have been so super busy in these last few weeks that I haven't had a chance to post the new things going on in our lives. I'll touch on a few major points and I will have to add pictures later as Trevor has saved a good portion of our recent pictures in Raw form and I'm not 100% sure how to transfer them to Jpg. Anyways...As of January 24th Adalyn started WALKING! We were at my parent's house and I had put Adalyn down on the floor where she actually took 5 whole unassisted steps towards her toys. My mom and I nearly fainted. Since last Sunday, she has taken upwards of 10 steps in a row, but still prefers crawling over walking because she is so quick!

Adalyn has 8 huge teeth and loves to use them on chicken, pears, grilled cheese, peas, apples, bananas, pasta, carrots, etc. She is our food lovin' kid! She refuses to be fed and will only eat what she can feed herself which kind of stinks as we have some baby food that needs to be used!

We took Addy to the doctor several weeks ago where they measured and weighed her. She is 22 lbs! She's still hanging around 55% in the height department and 90% for weight. I asked the doctor when would be a good time to switch her carseat around so she can face us and she said anytime after she is 20lbs. We were relieved and turned her around a few days later. We would have waited a lot longer, but she is tall and her little knees were practically at her chest. Not very comfortable! She is soooo happy that she can see us while we drive.

When we say "kiss" Adalyn comes swooping in with her mouth wide open to gives us a big smack-a-roo on the lips...too cute. When we say "Bye Bye" or "Hiiiii" she puts both hands out and waves. We were in Verizon last week and Adalyn intently stared and waved at everyone and she did not give up until she got a smile and a wave back...creepy :-) While we drive, she waves at cars and when we go on walks, she waves at birds.

For 2 weeks I subbed at the preschool I used to work at so our days were super crazy while I worked 2 jobs! Like I said before, we have tons of pictures to post so please stay tuned!

Holiday Fun

Uncle Alex was home for a few days during the Holidays and it was such a great time! We miss him dearly, but we wish him nothing but the best with his chosen career of Fire Fighting. We also have a bunch of super fun pictures of Adalyn who is getting bigger day by day!




Trevor didn't want me to post this picture, but I think it's so cute! I was getting ready for the day and when I came back into our bedroom I found Daddy asleep with the baby ;-)

New Years Eve

New Years was also spent at my parent's house with several additions to the family. Aunt Jane and Uncle Bill came up from down south and Jessie came home with Kirby and Dara from Berkeley. We had a great time hanging out with the family and enjoying each others company.

Christmas Day 2008

What a wonderful day! Christmas Eve night was pretty stormy and we had all gone to bed pretty late, so we got up kind of late on Christmas Day. We fed Adalyn, waited for Jessie to get out of bed and then we marched into the front room to open presents. Adalyn by far was the star of the show! Most every present under that tree had her name on it! Santa brought her a hand made wooden push walker that she pushed all over the house and a stand up and play activity toy. I think she was overwhelmed, but still a fun and happy baby! It was really neat watching Addy experience her first Christmas and explore all the new books, toys, and teddy bears. Trevor and I got an amazing gift that my mom won at work! A Nikon D60 DSLR which has been put to great use in the few days we have had it. You guys are going to have far too many pictures to look at :-) Trevor surprised the socks off me and got me a KitchenAide Stand up Mixer which I have been asking for since I love to bake. Of course, I opened it...looked at him and asked where it was the 2 days I spent baking before Christmas! He just laughed. I got him a nice shaver and lots of pictures of Adalyn! It was a magical day spent with family and still in our PJ's :-)
